Vapour Jet Refrigerator Heat Pump is designed to show and investigate the combined Rankine and vapour compression cycle. It is an example of a refrigerator/heat pump operated by a heat source. The transparent vessel allows to observe the evaporation and condensation processes. All the components of the circuits can be easily seen and controlled by the students. An electric heater makes the water turn into steam which is the heat source for steam condenses and evaporates in a heat exchanger. Freon vapours expand through a convergent-divergent nozzle and mix with a stream of vapours coming from the refrigeration circuit. This mixture passes into the diffuser to reduce its velocity and increase the pressure; downwards a water cooled coil condenser makes the vapour s become liquid. Liquid stream is divided in two branches: a ratio passes through an expansion valve and goes to the low temperature evaporator, the other ratio is sucked by a feed pump and delivered to high temperature evaporator. The Vapour Jet Refrigerator Heat Pump unit is supplied with manuals that describe each component of the system, installation and utilization procedures and give many exercises.
