It can be used as a motor or generator in series, compound or shunt. The windings, the armature and the rheostat are protected by a circuit breaker, and all elements are brought out to 4mm separated terminals on the cabinet. Specifications and/or diagrams are silk-screened on the back of a clear-plastic front panel for ease of identification. The trainer is protected by a either a diode or thermal-magnetic circuit breaker.
